La Cañada High School recently held its Winter Spectacular, where the school’s Jazz Band, 7/8 Concert Band and String Orchestra, 7/8 Chamber Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Camerata La Cañada, Advance Orchestra and Symphonic Orchestra performed and showed off their skills.
Special to the program was the Elementary Honor Band and Orchestra’s first performance, which were accompanied by their high school helpers: Adam Kakuk, Lisa Hoo, Audrey Wong, Faith Okino and Patrick Thuss.
The winter program, directed by Jason Stone, Jennifer Munday and Amanda Sverich, featured many Christmas favorites and some new ones like “African Holy Night,” complete with the color guard and baton twirler Madeleine Yen. The show concluded with selections from the Christmastime film, “The Polar Express.”
