First published in the Jan. 12 print issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.

The Lutheran Church in the Foothills invites the community to celebrate the life of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during its regular Sunday in-person worship service at 10 a.m. on Jan. 15, as well as a special online service later in the day, presented by the African Descent Lutheran Association-L.A. and the Southwest California Synod.
The 3 p.m. worship service with Rev. Scott Hamilton Adams of California Lutheran University can be found at ADLA-LA.org.
The federal holiday to honor the late civil rights leader’s birthday is Monday, Jan. 16; however, King’s actual birthday is Jan. 15. He died from an assassin’s bullet in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 39.
All are welcome to attend weekly worship at LCIF with Pastor Chuck Bunnell at 10 a.m. in person. All LCIF services are livestreamed as well on the church’s YouTube channel. Children’s Church is offered every Sunday for young children, and Confirmation class is available after worship service, beginning at 11:15 a.m. for students in grades 6-12.
Visit lcifoothills.org for event details, including small group gatherings and opportunities to serve. For more information or to request/offer help, email office@lcifoothills.org, or call (818) 790-1951. The church is located at 1700 Foothill Blvd. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday.
