Spartans Drop League Opener at Blair, 77-57

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ basketball team lost at Blair High in Pasadena, 77-57, in its Rio Hondo League opener last Friday.
Senior Samuel Guerrero racked up 20 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals for the Spartans. Junior Jack Reynolds poured in 10 points with six boards and one assist, sophomore Josh Proctor registered eight points, seven rebounds, one block and one assist, and senior Jacob Pastor scored six points with three assists, two steals and two boards.
Sophomore Josh Pastor tallied four points, one steal and one assist, junior Matthew Plocher finished with three points, two rebounds and one assist, and junior Jensen Karlich drained a 3-pointer. Senior Evan Mulcahey produced two points and 10 boards while senior Danny Evans posted one point, one assist and one rebound. Junior Anders Petersen collected seven boards and one steal, senior Finn Cook had three rebounds, and junior Spencer Moravec had one assist and one board.
The Spartans hosted South Pasadena in a league contest yesterday; the game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.
LCHS (10-7 overall, 0-1 in league) will host Monrovia in a league game on Friday, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m.

The Wolves defeated visiting Price High in Los Angeles, 45-31, in a nonleague game on Saturday.
Senior Geoffrey Stetson poured in 16 points while junior Henry Morrison registered 13 points. Senior Andrew Jordan scored five points, senior Theo Kuo tallied four points, junior Will Bigby sank a 3-pointer and senior Marvin Furuta had two points.
Flintridge Prep (13-5 overall, 2-0 in league) will resume Prep League play against visiting Providence High of Burbank on Friday, Jan. 13, at 7:30 p.m.

ST. FRANCIS

The Golden Knights narrowly lost to Crean Lutheran High of Irvine, 66-63, in a nonleague game on Saturday as senior captain Jackson Mosley racked up 24 points, three steals, one rebound and one assist.
Senior George Tupy poured in 12 points with four boards, two steals and two assists while senior captain Luke McGrath registered 12 points, two steals and two assists. Senior Brandin Dantzler tallied eight points, 11 rebounds, six assists and one block while sophomore Mazi Mosley finished with five points, three boards and one steal. Sophomore Joe Hickey collected two rebounds and one assist while junior Ethan Childs had one board.
SFHS defeated visiting Crespi High of Encino, 48-42, in its Mission League opener last Friday as Jackson Mosley recorded 21 points, three rebounds, one steal and one assist. Tupy produced nine points, one board and one assist, Dantzler tallied six points, 13 rebounds, five assists and two steals, and McGrath sank a pair of threes with two boards and two assists. Mazi Mosley finished with two points, four rebounds and one block, junior Greg Gazarian scored two points and Hickey had one assist.
St. Francis (15-5 overall, 1-0 in league) will visit Chaminade High in West Hills for a league game on Friday, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m.
