Local Squads Compete in League Matches

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ soccer team tied visiting Monrovia, 1-1, in a Rio Hondo League game last Friday.
It was an even matchup as the Spartans maintained possession for just over 60% of the game and narrowly outshot the visitors, 11-9. Sophomore
Harrison Chant scored once while junior Alan Razo had one assist.
LCHS previously tied visiting South Pasadena in a league matchup, 2-2. Razo and Chant each recorded one goal while junior Eliot Rae and freshman Rafayel Sahakyan were each credited with an assist. The visitors outshot the Spartans 13-11.
La Cañada visited Temple City for a league contest yesterday; the game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The Spartans (4-7-2 overall, 1-0-2 in league) will host Blair High of Pasadena on Friday, Jan. 20, at 3:30 p.m. before visiting South Pasadena on Wednesday, Jan. 25, for a pair of league matches.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

The Wolves lost a Prep League game at rival Pasadena Poly, 3-1, last Thursday as senior EQ Willis scored on a penalty kick.
Flintridge Prep (3-4-2 overall, 0-1-1 in league) will visit Providence High of Burbank for a league matchup on Monday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m.

ST. FRANCIS

The Golden Knights edged host Notre Dame High in Sherman Oaks, 3-2, in a Mission League game last Friday.
Senior Nick Ferry, junior Michael McCarthy and sophomore Alex Hartley each scored once, and seniors Giovanni Nieves and Colin Gibbs were each credited with an assist. Meanwhile, sophomore Tim Murphy and freshman Rome Strongin each posted three saves.
St. Francis was edged at Crespi High in Encino, 1-0, in a league game last Wednesday as Strongin recorded five saves.
The Golden Knights previously lost a league matchup at Chaminade High in West Hills, 3-2. Giovanni Nieves and Quinnten Guzman each tallied one goal while Murphy and Strongin each finished with three saves.
SFHS hosted Harvard-Westlake of Studio City in a league contest yesterday; the game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The Golden Knights (5-8-1 overall, 3-4 in league) will visit rival Loyola High in Los Angeles for a league rematch on Friday, Jan. 20, at 5 p.m. St. Francis lost its previous matchup against Loyola, 1-0, on Dec. 16.
