Spartans Remain Unbeaten in League

The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ water polo team defeated host Marlborough High in Los Angeles, 13-9, in a nonleague game last Friday.
Junior captain Kadyn Day registered six goals while sophomore Didi Reifsnyder-Smith made five saves. Freshman Lilli Perner scored three goals, freshman Sofia Korshakovsky tallied two goals, and senior captain Shereen Emadi and sophomore Alexis Calix each finished with one goal.
The Spartans sank host Monrovia, 18-6, in a Rio Hondo League game last Thursday as Day racked up a game-high eight goals. Emadi produced three goals and four saves while Reifsnyder-Smith made four saves. Perner recorded three goals while senior Kaley Schmidt, sophomore Kiley Ku, Calix and Korshakovsky each scored once.
LCHS was recently edged by visiting Birmingham High of Lake Balboa in a nonleague game, 11-10. Reifsnyder-Smith made six saves, Day posted five goals, Perner scored three goals and Emadi had two goals.
La Cañada previously won its 14th straight game by downing Temple City in a league matchup, 14-7. Reifsnyder-Smith tallied six saves, Calix, Emadi and Perner each recorded four goals, and Day and Ku each finished with one goal.
The league-leading Spartans (17-5 overall, 8-0 in league) will host fifth-place San Marino for their regular-season finale today at 4 p.m. The CIF-Southern Section playoff brackets will be released on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 9 a.m.

The Tologs recently lost a Mission League game at Harvard-Westlake High in Studio City, 14-2, as Marisol Cowles scored both goals.
Second-place Flintridge Sacred Heart (18-4 overall, 3-1 in league) will visit third-place Marlborough High in Los Angeles for a league game today at 3 p.m. before hosting Paramount for their regular-season finale on Friday, Feb. 3, at 3:30 p.m.

The Wolves posted a pair of Prep League victories last week, defeating Brentwood School in Los Angeles, 11-3, and Westridge School of Pasadena, 17-6. Individual statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
Second-place Flintridge Prep (14-9 overall, 8-2 in league) hosted La Salle College Preparatory of Pasadena in its regular-season finale yesterday; the game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue.
