LCBSA Teams Ready to Take the Field

First published in the Feb. 9 print issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.

Local residents are welcome to attend as La Cañada Baseball Softball Association kicks off the 2023 season with an inaugural Opening Day ceremony and friendly softball game on Friday, Feb. 24, from 6-8 p.m. at the Oak Grove softball fields nestled up against La Cañada High School.
This event is open to the public; admission is free.
“We encourage all LCBSA players to attend in uniform; teams from every division will be introduced,” according to an LCBSA spokesperson. “The league’s youngest players in the Shetland and Pixie divisions will be able to take a lap around the bases. Our very own Miss La Cañada Flintridge will be throwing out the first pitch and our Royal Court will be introduced. We hope you will join us to celebrate an upcoming year of teamwork, player development, and fun.”
The event will culminate in a softball game, pitting representatives from the 12-year-old boys’ Bronco Division against the 14-year-old girls’ Super-Senior Division. The successful summer seasons for several of the league’s tournament teams will also be celebrated.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase from Los Gringos Locos, Chick-Fil-A, Fresh Brothers Pizza and Handel’s Ice Cream. The 2023 Cooperstown team will also sell pizza, snacks and drinks as a fundraiser for their upcoming summer tournament.
Some food items must be pre-ordered. Visit lcbsa.org if you have questions or are seeking event information.
