Breckheimer, Leckrone Propel Spartans to Victory

The La Cañada High School varsity softball team recently blanked visiting South Pasadena in a Rio Hondo League game, 7-0.
Junior Elle Leckrone, who had a hit and a run, tossed a complete game shutout with three hits and a walk while senior Riley Breckheimer went 1-for-2 with a solo home run. Senior Kyra Davis recorded a hit, two stolen bases, a run and an RBI, junior Ashley Lovejoy tallied a hit, a run, an RBI and a stolen base, and sophomore Grace Rocco finished with two walks, a hit and a run. Sophomore Aubrey Wurm registered a hit and a run while sophomore Bentley Labrecque produced a hit and an RBI. Senior Ali Corrente walked and scored once while freshman Ava Perry walked once.
The Spartans narrowly lost at Heritage Christian High in Northridge, 7-6, last Friday. La Cañada managed to rally from a 5-1 deficit but ultimately lost late in the nonleague game.
Leckrone recorded three hits, including a pair of doubles, with a team-high five RBIs while Labrecque allowed one earned run in four innings of relief with six strikeouts and no walks. Lovejoy finished with a hit, two stolen bases and two runs, freshman Laila Kazazian tallied a triple and Perry had a base hit.
LCHS (6-4 overall, 2-0 in league) will visit Temple City for a league game today at 3:30 p.m. before competing in the Village Christian Spring Fling Showcase on March 25.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

The Wolves routed visiting Palos Verdes Chadwick, 15-2, in a Prep League game last Friday as Sienna Liston went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, a run and a stolen base.
Elise Fong went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs, Eliza Gunter went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs, and Asta Uziel went 1-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs. Emma Carmack, who had a hit, an RBI, a run and two stolen bases, pitched three hitless innings with a pair of strikeouts while allowing one unearned run on three walks to earn the win. Jaclyn Sim pitched a pair of innings in relief with three strikeouts while allowing one earned run on two hits and no walks. Madison Lin recorded three walks and two runs while Mary Sinclair registered two walks, two runs and a stolen base. Sarah Bougdanos tallied a walk, a run and a stolen base, Ava Burlingame finished with a walk and a run, and Alex Von Thaden walked once. Kelsey Lin scored once while Sarah Rude produced an RBI.
Flintridge Prep saw its four-game win streak end after losing a league game at Mayfield Senior, 12-5, last Monday. Liston went 3-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs, a run and a stolen base while Sinclair went 2-for-4 with a triple and a double. Fong, who went 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a run and a stolen base, struck out three batters in three innings while Sim allowed three runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks with one strikeout across three innings of relief. Bougdanos recorded a hit, a walk, an RBI and a run while Presley Nevadomsky tallied a hit and an RBI. Uziel produced a walk, a stolen base and a run while Carmack finished with a walk and a run.
The Wolves (6-3 overall, 3-1 in league) will visit Providence High in Burbank for a league game on Tuesday, March 28, at 3:15 p.m. before hosting South Pasadena on March 30.

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy senior Cassie Huston helped the Tologs defeat Alverno Heights Academy after allowing one earned run on two hits

The Tologs returned to the win column with a 6-1 nonleague victory over visiting Alverno Heights Academy of Sierra Madre last Monday.
Junior Megan Milton went 3-for-4 with two runs and a walk, senior captain Marie Milton went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and senior captain Charlotte Taylor went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run. Senior Cassie Huston earned the win after allowing one earned run on two hits and two walks in four innings while junior Meaghan Coyle struck out four and allowed one hit over two innings to record a save. Senior Ellie McCarthy tallied two hits and a walk, sophomore Ava Nawrocki had two hits, and senior Carly Crossland finished with a hit, a walk and a run. Senior Meghan Garrity produced two RBIs and two runs, senior Cameron Bender walked once and junior Abigail Blea stole a base.
FSHA (6-1 overall) will compete in
the 16th annual Torrey Invitational through Saturday, March 25, before resuming Sunshine League action at Notre Dame Academy in Los Angeles on March 28.
