Methodist Church Offers ‘Blessing of the Animals’

Saturday, April 22 is Earth Day. It is a day to remember and give thanks for the blessed gift of Earth that God has given to us. It is also a day to remember that we are caretakers of this Earth and all that is in it, including the creatures who share this planet with us. St. Francis of Assisi once said, “Ask the beasts and they will teach you the beauty of this Earth.”
In order to give thanks for God’s creatures and the beloved pets in our lives, the La Cañada United Methodist Church will have a “Blessing of the Animals” service on Saturday, April 22, at 11 a.m. This will take place under the oak trees at the picnic tables. If a participant is unable to walk to the picnic tables, Pastor Karin Ellis will come to their car. In order to make sure all humans and pets are safe, every pet needs to be either on a leash or in a carrier.
