Sheriff’s Station Provides Tips to Prevent Theft Amid Warm Weather

As the weather warms up, more people will be enjoying outdoor activities and criminals are looking for objects in plain sight to steal, according to a Facebook post from the Crescenta Valley Sherriff’s Station.
Here are some of their tips to keep thieves from striking:

  • Never hide your keys on or around your vehicle.
  • Always lock your vehicle.
  • Leave all valuables that you cannot take with you at home.
  • Do not leave bags, purses, backpacks, etc. visible. What is inside may not be of value, but the criminals will not know that until the damage is done.
  • Do not try to hide belongings in the trunk at the parking lot of your destination. The criminals may see this and target your vehicle.
  • If you see suspicious activity, especially in the hiking trailheads, call the nonemergency line, (818) 248-3464, and report it.
