Spartans Represented at CIF Masters Meet

Individuals from the La Cañada High School varsity girls’ track and field team recently competed in the CIF Masters Meet.
Maya DeBrouwer finished sixth in the 3,200 meters with a 10:33.41 time — the second-fastest time in school history, to earn the last qualifying spot for the state championship meet this coming weekend.
The 4×800 relay team of Charlotte Hopkins, Brittany Rivas, Yasmin Ghaneh and Katelyn Matarese took the fourth and final qualifying spot with a 9:13.95 time — the second-fastest time in school history. The team was in seventh place after three legs and approximately 80 meters behind fourth place, but Matarese ran a 2:10.4 anchor leg, the fastest split of all 60 girls in the race, to make up 100 meters and help the team punch its ticket to the state meet.
