Spartans Upend Neighboring Rival St. Francis, 14-4

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ tennis team earned a solid nonleague victory over visiting St. Francis, 14-4, in an intracity matchup last Thursday.
LCHS junior Lance Morgan won two singles sets 6-0, senior Luke Manion won 6-2, 6-3, and senior Luke Kim registered one set win, 6-4.
Meanwhile for the Golden Knights, sophomore Alex Su won two singles set 6-0, 6-1, junior Van Stepanian won his lone singles set 6-2, and freshman Nicholas Christopoulos registered one singles set victory, 6-1.
The Spartans dominated in doubles play, sweeping all nine of their sets. LCHS senior Konan Sahara and junior Aaron Magtoto were perfect, winning two sets 6-0 before alternating with senior Jack Kim and sophomore David Lee, who also won their lone set 6-0. Senior Aidan Robinson and sophomore Spencer Moravec swept their sets 6-1, 6-0, 6-1, while senior Aditya Desai and junior Dylan Gupta won two sets, 6-1, 6-0. Desai was alternated for Rahul Gupta, who won one set with Dylan Gupta, 6-0.
La Cañada (2-0 overall record) is scheduled to visit Claremont for a nonleague match on Monday, March 7, at 3:15 p.m. Meanwhile, St. Francis (0-1 overall) will visit Crescenta Valley for a nonleague match on Monday, March 7, at 3 p.m.
