LCPC Screens Films That Inspire

La Cañada Presbyterian Church continues its 2022 Film Festival on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 9 and 16. In a world of growing need and desperation, these films inspire us to consider what is possible when people come together.
The film that will be screened on Nov. 9 is a documentary about Mercy Ships, which are the world’s largest floating teaching hospitals. The movie covers the mission of the ships and its volunteer staff and crew to provide life-saving health care free of charge off the west coast of Africa.
Steve Schwind, an international hospital chaplain with Mercy Ships and global ministry partner with LCPC, will speak via Zoom with attendees.
The festival ends Nov. 16 with a screening of the Arroyo Seco film, “Can We All Get Along?” The film explores the complex history of Pasadena’s schools and the 1970 court order that created the first federal desegregation plan outside of the South and reflects on its lasting impacts. Special guests from Pasadena nonprofit organizations Harambee and Stars will be joined by the filmmaker, Pablo Miralles, for a discussion on the link between the history of Pasadena and the current opportunities in serving students in Pasadena schools.
Screenings and discussion take place in the La Cañada Presbyterian Church Worship Arts Center at 626 Foothill Blvd.
