Pumpkin Seeds Become Math Tools at PCR

Palm Crest Elementary School 4th-graders enthusiastically brought pumpkins to school on Halloween. With the assistance of parent volunteers, they carved their pumpkins and estimated how many seeds were inside. They carefully removed the seeds and placed them in groups of 10. They multiplied the groups to obtain the total number, seeing whether their estimation was correct. Taking it two steps further, they added all of the seeds for a final class number and for all of the 4th-grade classes.
