St. Bede the Venerable School hosted its first fundraiser of the 2018-19 school year Saturday night at the home of Tracy and Charlie Smith in La Cañada Flintridge. The “Backyard Bash” was one part fundraiser and one part new-family welcome party, combining fundraising and community building for a night of dancing and fun. “Being a close-knit community is one of the things we pride ourselves on at St. Bede,” said Juliet Cullen, president of the parent board. “Adding a fundraising element to the new family mixer gave our new families the opportunity to get involved early this year, while getting to know our existing community — and have some fun in the process.” Entertainment was provided by the Green Mild Pepperoncinis, a Red Hot Chili Peppers-style cover band featuring St. Bede parent John Gocke on bass. One hundred percent of the proceeds benefited the school, thanks to the generosity of the host families Juliet and Dave Cullen, John and Tina Gocke, Dorey and Greg Huston, Heather and Mark Masto, Tiffany and Steve Ringel, and Tracy and Charlie Smith.
