ALF Music Program’s Winter Concert Earns Applause

Lanterman Auditorium was recently transformed into a “Winter Wonderland of Music” by the young members of the Assistance League of Flintridge instrumental music program. Nearly 240 students from La Cañada Flintridge’s three public elementary schools participated in the event, earning rousing ovations from their appreciative audience. The beginning band and advanced concert band featured seasonal selections and folk songs conducted by John Tegmeyer. Other instructors in the band program include Michael Davis and Sean Moriarty, assisted by Ruth Kasckow, Austin Drake and Colin Ring. Sahak Karapetyan conducted the beginning strings and the advanced string orchestra in traditional carols and folk selections. The assistant instructor for strings is Ripsi Yepremyan. Susanna Israyelyan provided the piano accompaniment for the string performances. ALF has been offering its instrumental music program since 1985, with many former students going on to professional careers, some even returning to the program as instructors.
