ALF Musicians Celebrate the Season

Lanterman Auditorium was recently transformed into a Winter Wonderland of Music by the young musicians in the Assistance League of Flintridge Instrumental Music Program. Close to 220 students from La Cañada Flintridge’s three elementary schools participated in the recent event, earning rousing ovations from their appreciative audience. The Beginning Band and advanced Concert Band featured seasonal selections and folk songs conducted by John Tegmeyer. Other instructors in the band program included Michael Davis and Sean Moriarty assisted by Ruth Kasckow, James Myers and Colin Ring. Sahak Karapetyan conducted the Beginning Strings and the Advanced String Orchestra in traditional carols and folk selections. The assistant instructor for strings is Ripsi Yepremyan. Susanna Israyelyan provided the piano accompaniment for the string performances. The evening came to a close with “A Holiday Celebration” performed by the String Orchestra and Concert Band. Assistance League of Flintridge has been offering its instrumental music program since 1985, with many former students going on to professional careers, some even returning to the program as instructors.
