Sister Cities Exchange Students Shine

The La Cañada Flintridge Sister Cities Association capped off a busy summer with a reception at the home of Vanessa and Todd Greco. The reception followed a presentation by the City Council recognizing the six exchange students (three from Spain, three from La Cañada Flintridge) who traveled this summer to and from sister city Villanueva de la Cañada, Madrid, Spain. The exchange students, along with seven student ambassadors who represented the city at the 2018 Sister Cities International Youth Leadership Summit in Aurora, Colorado, were in attendance to share the highlights of their summer experiences. Mayor Terry Walker and LCF City Council members, as well as other community leaders, enjoyed an evening of celebrating and honoring those who have supported the association this year. Joining the celebration was Shin Koyamada, Los Angeles-based actor and philanthropist, who was recently elected to the Sister Cities International Board of Directors as the official SCI country representative for Japan and Eastern Asia. Also attending was his wife, Nia Lyte, motivational speaker, peace advocate, television host and philanthropist who serves as a tourism ambassador for her home country of Columbia.
