The Jack Lantz Big Band will present a celebration-themed Jazz Vespers at La Cañada Presbyterian Church at 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 2. The service in the sanctuary will also be livestreamed at live.lacanadapc.org.
Featuring sacred big band jazz, the worship service, with its combination of energetic musical style and simple liturgy, provides a stimulating way to reflect on life today and prepare for the challenges of the week ahead.
The 17-piece Jack Lantz Big Band consists of five saxophones, four trumpets, four trombones and rhythm section, plus vocalist Susan Kay Wyatt improvising on a wide range of familiar sacred tunes and gospel music in exciting “big band style.”
“This Sunday is the opportunity for people to have fun, to worship, to celebrate and do all those fun things they like to do with big band music,” Lantz said.
