The La Cañada High School Choral Department kicked off its first year with three successful tours since the pandemic. The three choirs traveled out-of-state with a combined total of around 130 students. Under the leadership of choral director Jeff Brookey, all three groups performed well, receiving high praise at workshops and performances alike.
The Chamber Singers toured Honolulu in February performing at Punahou School, the Bishop Museum, and the USS Battleship Missouri in Pearl Harbor. Their repertoire included a special selection of meaningful songs to honor and pay tribute to the people of Maui after the deadly wildfires in August 2023. In addition, they attended workshops with the University of Hawaii and Hawaii Pacific University’s Music Departments.
The Concert Choir toured New Orleans, in March. They attended a workshop at Xavier University and performed at St. George’s Episcopal Church, St. Andrew’s Church, and Christwood Retirement Community.
Finally, the Vocal Ensemble toured Nashville, Tennessee in April. Their itinerary included performances at Antioch High School’s Festival of Music and Country Music Hall of Fame, a workshop at Belmont University, and a recording session at famed RCA Recording Studio.
