Ann Avery Todd

Ann Avery Todd, age 96, passed away peacefully at her home in La Jolla on December 8, 2022.
Ann was born and raised in Framingham, Massachusetts, to Bernard and Lilah Avery and had two brothers: Richard and George.
Ann studied Secretarial Science at Colby Sawyer College and later received an Associate of Science degree in health care administration when she graduated from Lasell University, in Newton, Massachusetts, in 1946.
She then went on to work at NBC in New York City before moving to San Francisco in the mid-1950s where she met her husband, John O. Todd, Jr.
Ann and John raised two sons, John III and William, and lived in La Cañada Flintridge, California, for more than four decades before moving south to La Jolla where she resided with John in retirement at White Sands of La Jolla.
She was an attentive mother, a prolific painter, an excellent cook and enjoyed many loveable pet dogs through the years. The family enjoyed many memorable summer vacations at The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club and she and John traveled around the world three times as well as many domestic sojourns.
Ann was quite active throughout the decades with various charitable and volunteer organizations throughout her life including: The National Society of Colonial Dames, Society of Mayflower Descendants, Pasadena Showcase House of Design, the Villagers, Social Service League, and Planned Parenthood to name a few. She also served on the board of directors at the Valley Hunt Club in Pasadena for many years and helped shape the future of the club and its success. John and Ann were also members of the Town Club in Pasadena before they moved to La Jolla.
Ann was pre-deceased by her husband John, survived by her two sons John III and William; daughter-in-law Cheryl; and grandsons, John IV and Andrew Todd.
A service will be held St. James by the Sea Episcopal Church in La Jolla on February 4, 2023, at 1 p.m.
