Cecelia Constance Weston

Date of Death

Cecelia Constance Weston, 92, passed away peacefully in Pasadena on Monday, January 9, 2023, after a short illness.
Born to Elizabeth and Phillip Goetting in Beverly Hills on Sept. 16, 1930, Cecelia grew up in Highland Park, attending Luther Burbank School, Franklin High, then Muir during the time it was a junior college.
Upon entering the workforce, Cecelia was employed by So Cal Gas in an administrative capacity, then transitioned to retail, working for Ivers Department Store in Highland Park.
Cecelia met future husband Byron Lawrence Weston at a party through mutual friends and they began dating, eventually marrying in 1954. Byron grew up in Montebello. Often, he took Cecelia out on excursions to motorcycle races that he participated in as a member of the Pico Hornets Motorcycle Club. They started a family while living in Whittier, then moved to West Covina. With their three kids — Elizabeth, Byron Jr. and Meredith — the young couple bought their La Cañada house in 1970, which has been the hub of family doings ever since.
Cecelia worked for Faye’s Intimate Apparel in Montrose for several years once the kids had grown up. She was friendly and charming, with coworker friendships outlasting several years of employment at Faye’s. A devoted mom, grandmother and loving wife, Cecelia was gifted with home arts, such as sewing, culinary and family bookkeeping, and gave her all to her family, making the La Cañada home a destination for the expanding family to gather. She filled our lives with love and warmth.
In recent years, she volunteered at Lutheran Church in the Foothills, helping out in the church office.
Cecelia is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Weston of La Cañada and Meredith Weston of Reno; grandchildren Connie Panzarello, Phillip Weston, Holly Stinson and Clayton Stinson. Also surviving Cecelia are her brother-in-law Marvin Weston of La Verne, cousins Gloria Kent of Prescott, AZ, and Dianne Dilley of Gardnerville, NV, as well as other extended family members.
Cecelia was preceded in death by husband Byron, grandson Byron L. Weston III, and son Byron L. Weston Jr.
Services will be held for Cecelia at Lutheran Church in the Foothills on Saturday, February 11, at 1 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life in the Fellowship Hall there.
