In Loving Memory of Kathleen Marie Kaneko

Kathleen “Kate” Marie Kaneko
Date of Death

With heavy hearts, we share that our mother peacefully left this world holding her daughter’s hand on February 6, 2024.
Kathleen Marie Kaneko was born on December 6, 1949, in Columbus, Ohio, to Francis and Anne Walsh. She was the wife of Osamu Kaneko and a beloved mother to Erin and Kevin Kaneko.
Throughout her life, Kate was a dedicated philanthropist who devoted much of her time to numerous admirable causes. Her passion to create change and impact her community touched the lives of many. Kate’s adventurous spirit led her to explore and experience the beauty of various places, creating cherished memories that will forever resonate in our hearts.
In honoring Kate’s memory, let us celebrate the legacy of a remarkable woman who spread love, kindness and generosity wherever she went. She will be dearly missed by so many.
Kate is survived by her husband Osamu “Sam”; children Erin and Kevin; siblings Francis “Mike” Bailie, Patrick Walsh, and Mary Stone; son-in-law T.J. Young; daughter-in-law Charlotte; grandchildren Tiernan, Declan, Honora, Linnéa, Ronan, and Onyx; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Three separate occasions will take place as we commemorate Katie’s life. A private memorial service will take place at the Valley of the Temples in Kaneohe, Hawai’i, on April 2, 2024. A celebration of life will be held in Pasadena on May 29, 2024, followed by an interment ceremony at Valley of the Temples on July 29, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, our family humbly requests that donations be made to the Women’s Council of USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, a cause close to Kate’s heart. You will find the link below:

Please note when making your donation to check the box “Make this gift in memorial or tribute in honor of someone” and include Kate’s name. This will ensure the funds are allocated specifically to the Women’s Council.
May our beloved Katie rest in eternal peace.
An Irish Proverb for our Irish Kathleen:
“Grieve not and do not speak of me with tears…
“Instead laugh and talk of me as though I am here…
“As if I were beside you and loved you so, for I met heaven long ago…”
