James Dennis Donovan was born on July 9, 1942, to Jack and Madeline Donovan. He passed away on April 28, 2023.
Jim was the beloved husband of Marie, the proud father of daughters Erica and Melissa and son Tony and proud grandfather of Aimee and Britnee.
He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1960. He took engineering classes at LACC but quit school to help support his mother when his father passed away. He went to work for the county of L.A. where his career as a building inspector began.
Jim was a Boy Scout, he was in the Shamrocks Motorcycle Club, he was a past master councilor of DeMolay, and he sang in the L.A. Crescenta Barber Shop chorus. He worked at Pickwick Stables as a young boy. Later, he loved sharing his knowledge of horses with his two granddaughters. Jim was baptized at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Tujunga at the age of 71.
Jim had a long battle with Alzheimer’s, but it was never able to affect his beautiful smile and his kind heart and soul.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Little Church of the Flowers, Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 1712 S. Glendale Avenue, Glendale, CA 91205. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to Alzheimer’s Association or Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 7315 Apperson Street, Tujunga, CA 91042.
