Joan (Joanie) Herrman Bradt passed from this world on July 18, 2023, after a nearly two-and-a-half year battle to recover from severe motor and sensory nerve damage caused by Guillain-Barre Syndrome.
Joan was born to David Thomas Herrman Jr. and Shirley Hunter Herrman on Oct. 5, 1960, in Wilmette, Illinois. Joan spent her formative years in La Cañada Flintridge attending La Cañada Elementary, Foothill Intermediate School and La Cañada High School. Joan and William (Bill) Bradt married June 18, 1983, and were blessed with two, wonderful children, David and Lauren.
From an early age, anyone who knew Joanie was touched by her sense of whimsy, wisdom and everlasting compassion for others. Joan was an active volunteer for the PTSA and the Girl Scouts of America, and prepared food and served the homeless in her community. Joan also was a member of the Assistance League of Santa Clarita.
Joan leaves behind her husband Bill, son David, daughter Lauren (Taylor), sisters Leslie Herrman and Suzy (Jeff) Namba, brother Tom (Jeanne) Herrman, brother-in-law Bob Bradt, nephews Bryant (Liz) Herrman, Chris (Raquel) and Kenny Namba, niece Sarah (Tanner) Johnson, three great nephews Alex, Joey and Hank, three great nieces Grace, Lucy and Amelia, aunt Ginger Haack, and cousins spread around the country from Alaska, Oregon, California, Ohio, Vermont, Tennessee, Texas and Georgia.
A Celebration of Joanie’s Life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 26, at 1 p.m. at Valencia United Methodist Church, 25718 McBean Pkwy, Santa Clarita, CA 91355.
