Christopher Michael Erskine IV, a resident of La Cañada Flintridge for 23 years, died in a traffic accident early Sunday while returning home from work on the 215 Freeway near San Bernardino. He was 32.
An avid outdoorsman, photographer and a lover of L.A. sports teams, Christopher attended Palm Crest Elementary, La Cañada High School and Glendale Community College.
He worked as an assistant for production companies in various capacities, including as a production assistant for the NFL Network. At the time of his death, he was a delivery man for nursing homes and elder-care facilities around Southern California.
Born Jan. 14, 1986 in New Orleans, Christopher moved with his family to Glendale at age 4. The family relocated to La Cañada Flintridge five years later, where Christopher became active in Boy Scouts, AYSO soccer and on teams with the La Cañada Baseball Softball Association. He also followed the Dodgers, Lakers and USC football through every step of a season.
As an adult, his interests included backpacking trips across the Sierra, where he spent many hours photographing the splendor of Mammoth, June Lake and Yosemite. He also had an eye for the cityscapes of downtown Los Angeles. Recently, he developed an interest in cooking, and adopted old family recipes from Italy that he picked up from his mother and grandmother.
Hobbies included reading and gardening, and his latest passion was a Siberian husky pup that he named Sierra.
He is survived by his parents, Cathy and Chris Erskine, sisters Jessica and Emily, and brother, Jack, who in many ways was also his very best friend.

A public memorial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, at La Cañada Presbyterian Church, 626 Foothill Blvd. A reception will follow at the Rose Bowl.
