Former La Cañada Flintridge resident Judith Ellen Fogle has passed away at the age of 84 in Phoenix, Arizona.
Judith, originally from Cohoes, New York, was a stage, film, television and radio actress in the ’50s and ’60s and a main player in the 1952/1953 New York stage production of “Time Out For Ginger,” starring Melvyn Douglas. After marrying, she moved to Los Angeles and continued her acting career for a time, before retiring to raise her daughter, Mary.
She found her true passion in a second career as a longtime teacher of students at Belmont High School in Los Angeles. Many of her students were immigrating to the United States from Central and South America. Judith guided many of those students in their college applications and acceptance. Judith is survived by her only daughter, Mary Fogle Mazur, and her son-in-law, John C. Mazur, both former residents of La Cañada Flintridge and now of Phoenix, her adult grandchildren from Los Angeles and San Francisco, respectively, Matthew Mazur (Amanda) and Maggie Mazur, and her many Mazur grand nieces and nephews from Southern California and Boston, all of whom she dearly cherished and adored.
Judith was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Peter Fogle. Funeral services are this Friday, May 18, at 1 p.m. at St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church, located at 215 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada Flintridge. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Judith’s name to the Braille Institute in Los Angeles or to America’s DACA/Dreamers program through the National Immigration Law Center in Los Angeles.
