Pat Ryburn

Patricia Ryburn was born on February 9, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan, to Ralph and Erma Benninger.
She passed away to her eternal home on August 18, 2023, at the age of 95. A memorial service was held on September 9.
Pat graduated from Grossmont Union High School in San Diego and attended Sierra College in Redlands. The bombing of Pearl Harbor occurred in her freshman year of high school. D-Day was in May of her senior year.
At the end of the war Pat met her husband-to-be, Walter B. Ryburn, at Mission Beach in San Diego. They were married for 64 years. Walt was an insurance broker and active in the Crecenta-Canada Lions Club, as well as Gideons. They moved to La Cañada where their children were raised in the local schools.
During this time, Pat began her 24-year career selling advertising for the La Cañada Valley Sun. She was well known in the area for her professionalism and personal interest in her merchants.
The family later moved to La Crescenta, where they were very involved at the Baptist church. Her faith in Christ was an important part of her life. She taught 5-year-old Sunday School, as well as helped sponsor youth and college groups with Walt. Post-retirement Pat was a member of the La Cañada Thursday Club, managing property rentals.
Pat was known for her spunkiness, her warmth and hospitable nature. She had a welcoming home and a garden full of flowers.
People were important to Pat. She drew people close and considered them like family.
Pat leaves behind 3 children: Bill Ryburn (Susan) of La Crescenta, Barb Langeloh (Rick) of Covina, and Bob Ryburn (Shari) of Mukilteo, Washington. She also leaves 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren who loved her dearly.
