SoCal Edison Responds to LCF Power Outages

In her May 6 article, “La Cañada Flintridge Residents Decry Constant SCE Power Outages,” Mia Alva discusses service disruptions affecting Southern California Edison customers.
Power outages, regardless of duration, pose a hardship for residents, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.
The situation in this area is influenced by unique vegetation and animal circumstances that impact our system.
Since 2021, SCE has worked in La Cañada Flintridge to clear vegetation and install coated electrical wire. These measures aim to prevent tree branches and wildlife from encountering our electrical equipment, which could lead to potential power outages. While progress has been made, we still have work to do.
Our operations and engineering teams have begun an action plan that includes clearing more vegetation near power lines and protecting equipment to help prevent outages.
As we do this, we will communicate with the property owner and there may be temporary, brief power disruptions to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
At SCE, the safety of our communities, customers and employees remains our top priority.
