Law Enforcement Warns Residents of Scam

The Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station is warning residents that a person is calling members of the public and stating that they are a member of the department. The impostor tells the intended victim that they need to pay a sum of money to avoid being arrested.
The station said that no law enforcement agency would request a payment over the phone to avoid an arrest. It warns residents to never give their personal information, credit card number or banking information over the phone unless they have verified the identity of the caller.
Residents are advised that if someone states they are a sheriff’s deputy from the station and they are in doubt, they should call the station at (818) 248-3464 to verify.
