Spartans Remain Perfect in League

La Cañada High School pitcher Holly Stoner was stellar in the circle and shut out host Monrovia, 7-0, in a Rio Hondo League game on Tuesday.
The Spartan ace went the distance and allowed only one hit and struck out nine.
Emily Tinkham was stellar in the batter’s box, collecting two hits, driving in two runs and scoring twice. Alexis Abboud and Gillian Arnold each scored and drove in a run, and Abby Au hit a two-run single.
The Spartans (9-3 overall record) improved to 5-0 in Rio Hondo League play and extended their league win streak to 14 games. They will host South Pasadena this Friday, April 14, at 3:30 p.m. The game will also be La Cañada’s annual Strike Out Cancer fundraiser.

San Gabriel Mission 2

The Rebels clobbered host San Gabriel Mission, 15-2, in a nonleague game last Friday.
Libby Penn led Flintridge Prep’s offense going 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs, and Therese Oshiro helped her own cause with two hits and three RBIs. Maya Vasquez was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Carina Mankerian finished 2-for-3 with one RBI and Melissa Grande was 1-for-3 with three RBIs.
Oshiro earned the win and allowed only two runs on seven hits. Mission was limited to only seven hits and two runs, and the home squad was also plagued by errors.
Flintridge Prep (7-4 overall, 3-2 in league) will travel to Lynwood to take on Firebaugh on Tuesday, April 18, at 3:30 p.m.
