Bobcats Make Themselves at Home on Jarvis

A resident in the 5000 block of Jarvis Avenue reported spotting a pair of bobcats recently in his backyard. Glenn Houser believes they are a mother and a cub, and that they’ve begun visiting his yard more since his golden retriever died a few weeks ago.
“We’re used to wildlife; we see them a lot,” Houser said. “We get rabbits here a lot and [the bobcats] probably have been keeping the rabbits and the squirrels under control.
“One guy up here likes them because he doesn’t like the rabbits, but people with smaller dogs and cats would probably be concerned if they saw them.
“The bobcats have no fear at all. [Recently] I saw just the mother sleeping in the yard for a while and I finally yelled at it — and took some pictures.”
