LCF Musicians Are Among Spotlight Semifinalists

La Cañada Flintridge residents Annette Lee and Finn Sagal are among the 113 talented area high school students who will be honored as semifinalists in the Music Center’s 30th annual Spotlight Program, a free scholarship and arts training program for teens.
Sagal, a senior at La Cañada High School, is being recognized in the non-classical voice category. Lee, a junior at Pasadena Poly, is among those selected in the classical instrumental category.
They now have the opportunity to be selected as one of 14 grand prize finalists who will perform at the Music Center’s Walt Disney Concert Hall in the Spotlight Grand Finale Performance on June 5.
The semifinalists were selected by professional judges from more than 1,450 participating students. Semifinalists participate in master classes and compete to perform at the Music Center and receive cash scholarships. Panels of expert judges will provide coaching, insights and workshops far beyond what students might find in traditional competitions. Misty Copeland, who made history as the first African American to be named principal ballerina for American Ballet Theatre, is a past Spotlight finalist.
