Joy Gillman was honored as the 2018 Diamond Service Award recipient at the Learning Castle and La Cañada Preparatory’s 10th annual Diamond Donor Dinner on May 10.
The dinner and ceremony, held at Café Santorini’s lovely Rococo Room in Old Town Pasadena, was attended by the schools’ major donors and celebrate the fiscal goals of the campaign and 100% parent participation.
Development Director Aggie Malolepszy presented the award to Gillman, saying, “Joy, thank you for the hundreds of hours of your time spent driving around town, attending countless meetings, planning events, working outside, rain or shine.”
During Gillman’s 20 years as a parent at the Learning Castle and La Cañada Prep, she was Parent Association president five times and was instrumental in developing a family service program at the schools.
“How do you repay the special gift that these schools are for our children,” Gillman told those in attendance when accepting the award. “For me, it was giving back!”
