Studenmund Joins Getty Board of Trustees

Jaynie Studenmund

The J. Paul Getty Trust Board of Trustees has elected business executive and independent board member Jaynie Miller Studenmund to its board.
“Jaynie’s extensive leadership experience across many different fields will serve the Getty well,” said Dr. David L. Lee, chair of the Getty Board of Trustees. “She has deep knowledge from service on both nonprofit and corporate boards. We welcome her to the board, where she will help us guide one of the world’s leading cultural organizations into a new, post-pandemic era.”
The former chief operating officer for Overture Services, Studenmund’s career spans four decades of experience in management consulting, corporate executive management, and board service for public companies and nonprofits. Her corporate background is primarily in financial services, digital, data, and consumer businesses.
Studenmund began her career in management consulting at Booz, Allen & Hamilton. For nearly two decades she worked in financial services during the era of banking deregulation, innovation, growth and consolidation. In succession, she led all consumer businesses for First Interstate Bank of California, Great Western Bank, and Home Savings, three of the nation’s largest retail banks.
She pivoted to the internet where she became COO for Overture Services, which pioneered paid search, transformed online advertising, and experienced hyper global growth. Overture was on the ground floor of creating Search Engine Marketing (SEM) that has become an $80 billion industry.
Studenmund serves on a portfolio of boards, including EXL Service, a global digital intelligence, analytics and operations management company; Pacific Premier Bancorp, a regional bank; Western Asset Management Funds, a global fixed income investment manager; and CoreLogic, a provider of consumer, financial and property data. Recent prior boards include LifeLock, Orbitz Worldwide, and Pinnacle Entertainment.
In the nonprofit arena, she is on the board of Huntington Hospital, which she chairs, as well as Flintridge Prep, Forest Lawn, and the Enduring Heroes Foundation. She co-founded the Enduring Heroes Foundation to honor all 11 of Greater Pasadena’s heroes who have been killed in combat in the Wars on Terror since 9/11, and raise appreciation for the U.S. military. The Studenmunds, a Gold Star family, lost their beloved Green Beret son Scott in 2014.
“We look forward to Jaynie’s guidance as we build a more inclusive community among our staff and supporters, develop a creative digital-first agenda, and strengthen our engagement in Los Angeles and around the world,” said James Cuno, president and CEO of the J. Paul Getty Trust.
Studenmund has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in economics from Wellesley College. She is married to Woody Studenmund, the Laurence de Rycke Professor of Economics at Occidental College. They have two children.
“I couldn’t be more honored and thrilled to join the Getty board,” Studenmund said. “What an exciting and challenging time to be part of this influential global organization seeking to conserve the world’s cultural heritage.”
