St. Francis, Flintridge Prep Compete in Playoffs

The winning ways continued for St. Francis High School’s varsity boys’ basketball team after defeating visiting Northridge Heritage Christian, 53-49, in a CIF-SS Division 1 second-round game on Tuesday, Feb. 15.
Senior captain Buckley DeJardin, who surpassed 1,000 career points, posted a team-high 18 points and seven rebounds while juniors Brandin Dantzler and Luke McGrath each scored 11 points. Senior Jake Goldberg collected nine points and two steals while junior Jackson Mosley finished with four points and seven boards.
The Golden Knights opened their postseason by logging a 47-35 road victory over Canyon Country Santa Clarita Christian on Friday, Feb. 11. DeJardin had 10 points, four rebounds and two steals while Goldberg and Mosley each scored 11 points. Dantzler registered two points, six rebounds and five assists, while McGrath posted three points and five boards.
St. Francis (25-5 overall record) is scheduled to host JSerra Catholic of San Juan Capistrano (17-9 overall) in a quarterfinal matchup on Friday, Feb. 18. If the Golden Knights win, they will advance to a semifinal round to meet rival Los Angeles Loyola (22-6 overall) or Bellflower St. John Bosco (21-9 overall) on Tuesday, Feb. 22.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

The Wolves were eliminated from CIF-SS Division 4AA playoffs after falling at Oxnard Rio Mesa, 59-39, in a first-round matchup on Friday, Feb. 11. No individual statistics were reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
Flintridge Prep finished the season third in the Prep League standings with a 4-4 record (11-13 overall).
