First published in the Sept. 1 print issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.

To cheer on the new, incoming LCUSD K-12 teachers, the Kiwanis Club of La Cañada recently hosted an “Apples for Teachers” box lunch to help kick off the 2022-23 school year. Welcomed by La Cañada Unified School District Superintendent Wendy Sinnette, the Kiwanis Club of La Cañada President Terry Piasky offered special salutations, Kiwanis member Dr. Michael Leininger served as the event liaison and master of ceremonies, and Kiwanis member Linda Magarian gave words of inspiration.
Among the other Kiwanians in attendance were LCUSD Board of Education members Caroline Anderson and Joe Radabaugh, including Kiwanis President-elect Trish McRae, Linda Fors, Nancy Leininger and Alice Perez.
The “Apples for Teachers” event is a program inspired by Kiwanis International’s mission to recognize those individuals who help and encourage youth worldwide.
“If you are interested in helping kids while making friends and having fun, you are invited to attend or Zoom in on a Kiwanis Club of La Cañada meeting held each Wednesday at noon, featuring the ‘Guest Speaker of the Week’ program,” a Kiwanis spokesperson said.
