Chabad of Crescenta Valley Welcomes New Torah Scroll

First published in the Sept. 1 print issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.

The Torah: For thousands of years, Jews around the world have cherished and loved this sacred text — adhering to its every word, indeed its every letter, since it has been received at Mt. Sinai.
The Torah that you see today is written in exactly the same way that Moses originally wrote it some 3300 years ago.
This week, Chabad of the Crescenta Valley joyfully welcomed a new Torah scroll to La Cañada Flintridge — a celebration first of its kind in the history of our beautiful city. As is customary, it was celebrated in the streets with much singing and dancing as the Torah was accompanied to its permanent home.
The procession began at Olberz Park — in front of the LCF City Hall, and continued on to Chabad of the Crescenta Valley, accompanied by a police escort provided by the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Department. There, the traditional hakafot were performed, followed by a lavish meal in honor of the occasion.
