The Adventist Health Glendale Foundation held its annual Celebration of Gratitude Gala, which raised more than $170,000 at the Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena recently.
“This very special evening we come together to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our honorees and the successful completion of the Breast Center Campaign, which will provide a state-of-the-art comprehensive breast center for our community,” Adventist Health Glendale President Alice Issai said in a statement.
“Our outstanding honorees Dr. Harlan Gibbs and Glendale Adventist Emergency Physicians will receive the Erwin J. Remboldt Award. Their dedication and commitment are, in large part, why Adventist Health Glendale continues to thrive during a time of great challenge for the entire health care industry,” she added.
“We also honor and celebrate Sam and Grace Carvajal and Bhupesh and Kumud Parikh for their unwavering and generous support of the Breast Cancer Campaign. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our friends, families, neighbors and community.”
Elizabeth LaBorde, president of the Adventist Health Glendale Foundation, added in the statement that gala attendees would “make a life-changing impact on thousands of women and their families by raising funds for the Tufenkian Family Breast Cancer Survivorship Endowment in memory of Savey Tufenkian.”
LaBorde also recognized the “generous sponsors, volunteers, executive leadership team, our gala committee co-chairs Pat Crouch, Amanda Hughes and Dr. Edmund Lew, and Breast Center committee members for making tonight so special.”
One of the evening’s highlights was a special address during dinner by award-winning actress and author Fran Drescher, a cancer survivor who starred in television’s “The Nanny.”
