The La Canada High School varsity girls’ tennis team concluded the regular season with an 11-7 Rio Hondo League victory over visiting South Pasadena on Monday.
No. 2 singles Tsehay Driscoll swept, 6-2, 6-0, 6-1, while No. 1 Lilly Chamras (6-0, 6-1) and No. 3 singles Jessica Simonian (6-4, 6-3) each won a pair of sets. The No. 1 doubles team of Allison Woo and Amanda Grabel won two sets, 6-3, 6-0. The No. 3 tandem of Kylie Hwang and Bianca Cugno won a set, 6-2, before the latter rotated with Lauren Kim. The new duo of Hwang and Kim added a third-set victory, 6-0.
LCHS routed visiting Temple City, 15-5, in a Rio Hondo League match last Thursday. No. 2 singles Driscoll was spotless, winning each set 6-0, while the No. 1 doubles team of Woo and Grabel (6-3, 6-0, 6-0), and the No. 2 tandem of Riley and Kaylee Thornburgh (6-2, 6-0, 6-1) each swept. Meanwhile, No. 1 singles Chambras (6-1, 6-0), No. 3 singles Simonian (6-0, 6-0), and the No. 3 duo of Hwang and Kim (6-0, 6-0) each tallied a pair of wins.
The Spartans previously crushed host Monrovia, 17-1 in a league matchup. The No. 1 doubles team of Woo and Grabel was spotless, winning each set 6-0. The No. 2 tandem of Chia Matuska and Kaylee Thornburgh won a pair of sets, 6-0, 6-0, before the latter alternated with Cugno. The new duo of Matuska and Kaylee Thornburgh won a set, 6-1. No. 2 singles Simonian and No. 3 Chambras never lost a game, winning all six sets 6-0, while No. 1 Driscoll won two sets, 6-0, 6-4.
LCHS (7-2 overall, 5-2 in league) sent individuals to compete in the Rio Hondo League prelims and finals this week; the results will be included in next week’s issue. The CIF-SS playoff brackets will be released on Monday, Oct. 31, at 11 a.m.
FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves defeated host Providence High in Burbank, 15-3, in a Prep League match last Friday, as Prep’s singles players were spotless.
No. 1 singles Katharina Zirn, No. 2 Emily Hsiao and No. 3 Sienna Beltz never lost a game and won all nine sets by scores of 6-0. The No. 1 doubles team of Rachel DeMerit and Sophie Haddad never lost a game, sweeping by scores of 6-0. The No. 3 tandem of Vanessa Hsu and Kate Snaer won a pair of sets, 6-0, 6-0, while the No. 2 duo of Nicole Lee and Miranda Thomson added one win, 6-4.
Flintridge Prep dominated a nonleague match at De Toledo High in West Hills, 17-1, last Thursday, as the doubles teams dominated the court. The No. 2 team of Nicole Lee and Beltz, and the No. 3 tandem of Hsu and Kayla Lee each won their sets by scores of 6-0, 6-1, 6-3. The No. 1 team of DeMerit and Haddad won a pair of sets, 6-0, 6-0, before alternating with Snaer and Vy Pham, who won their lone set 6-1.

Flintridge Prep (11-4 overall, 8-2 in league) sent individuals to compete in the Prep League singles and doubles tournament on Wednesday, Oct. 26; the results were unavailable by the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. The CIF-SS playoff brackets will be released on Monday, Oct. 31.

The Tologs routed visiting Chaminade High of West Hills, 16-2, in a Mission League match last Tuesday, as the singles players dominated the court.
No. 1 singles Nathalie Genyk (6-0, 6-0, 6-0), No. 2 Ashley Hurjak (6-0, 6-2, 6-1) and No. 3 Madison Wu (6-0, 6-1, 6-0) each swept. The No. 1 doubles team of Meghan Garrity and Kate Mann swept, 6-1, 6-0, 6-4, while the No. 3 tandem of Sophia Durand and Emma Oakland tallied a pair of wins, 6-1, 6-0. The No. 2 duo of Mia Wertheimer and Grace Garrity won a set, 6-1, before the latter rotated with Amelia Koch. The new pair of Wertheimer and Koch won their last set, 6-2.
FSHA competed in the league prelims and finals this week; the results will be included in next week’s issue. Following individual competitions, Flintridge Sacred Heart (3-10 overall, 2-6 in league) will wait for the CIF-SS brackets to be released on Monday, Oct. 31, at 11 a.m.
