The Rose Bowl Aquatic Center Masters Swim Team recently placed first at the Southern Pacific Masters Swimming 2022 Short Course Meters Championships.
The Long Beach Grunions hosted the three-day event at the recently completed state-of-the-art Kinesiology Labs and Aquatic Center on the Long Beach City College campus.
While the weather did not look promising, the sun did shine throughout the weekend. Over 400 Masters swimmers from across the country competed in the three-day meet. The Rose Bowl Masters had close to 70 swimmers at the competition that represented and competed for the team.
“Overall, in the Rose Bowl Masters final meet of the season, the swimmers swam amazingly, put up some lifetime best results, and had some fun,” said Chad Durieux, head coach. “I am so proud of this team and what they have accomplished. The way they support each other in this community is what the RBAC is all about. Congratulations to all the swimmers who competed!”
The RBAC Masters Swim Team walked away with a total of 1634.5 points and took home a first-place trophy.
The RBAC Masters Swim Team is a team-based adult training program. Under the leadership of Durieux, the coaching staff supervises the morning, afternoon and evening workouts. Swimming skill levels range from novice competitive swimmers and is comprised of many former Olympic competitors.
