Spartans Compete in Corona Tournament

The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ water polo team competed in the Corona Tournament last weekend and finished with a 2-2 record.
The Spartans defeated Tesoro High of Rancho Santa Margarita, 11-5, in a tournament game, as senior DiDi Reifsnyder-Smith registered six saves. Sophomore Alexis Calix and freshman Lilli Perner each recorded three goals, senior captain Shereen Emadi and freshman Sofia Korshakovsk each produced a pair of goals, and sophomore Lorelei Rocca scored once.
LCHS beat Citrus Valley High of Redlands, 12-4, in a tournament game, as Emadi registered a game-high four goals. Perner posted three goals, Calix and Rocca each had two goals, and Reifsnyder-Smith finished with four saves and one goal.
The Spartans lost a tournament game to Vista Murrieta, 17-7, as Emadi tallied a team-high three goals. Reifsnyder-Smith posted six saves, Perner scored two goals, and Korshakovsk and senior Kaley Schmidt each had one goal.
The Spartans narrowly lost a tournament game against host Corona, 9-7. Reifsnyder-Smith recorded six saves, freshman Supriya Uniyal and Perner each produced a pair of goals, and sophomore Annalina Fogarty, Emadi and Korshakovsk each tallied one goal.
LCHS (2-4 overall) will open Rio Hondo League action at Temple City on Thursday, Jan. 5, at 4 p.m.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

The Wolves defeated host Westridge School in Pasadena, 12-4, in a Prep League game last Friday. Goalie Dahlia Kamins racked up 16 saves while Nico Seaver and Naomi Cohen each recorded three goals. Sarah Iturbe and Alex Thein each scored a pair of goals while Kateline Kinne and Victoria Barry each added one goal.
Flintridge Prep previously crushed visiting Monrovia in a nonleague game, 16-5. Seaver tallied five goals while Kamins posted 13 saves. Thein and Cohen each registered three goals, Kinne and Iturbe each produced a pair of goals, and Sam Bonk had one goal.
The Wolves (6-5 overall, 2-1 in league) will return to action by hosting Pasadena in a nonleague game on Thursday, Jan. 5, at 3:30 p.m.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART

The Tologs have been idle since routing host Mayfield Senior of Pasadena, 21-1, in a nonleague game on Dec. 9.
FSHA (11-0 overall) will host Westridge School of Pasadena in a nonleague game on Thursday, Jan. 5, at 3:30 p.m.
