LCHS, Flintridge Prep, FSHA Each Post League Wins

The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ basketball team defeated visiting Monrovia, 42-38, in a Rio Hondo League game last Friday as sophomore Jennifer Musso racked up 24 points, four rebounds, four steals and one assist.
Senior Mia Oakley-Stilson poured in 11 points, six assists, five boards and two steals while junior Andrianna Pitsos recorded five points, two rebounds and one steal. Freshman Madison Hunt posted seven steals, five boards and two points, junior Isabella Chividjian collected one block, one steal and one rebound, and junior Talia Miyamoto and sophomore Sydney Magtoto each had one assist.
The Spartans previously dropped a league game to visiting South Pasadena, 51-42, as Pitsos racked up 18 points, four boards and two steals. Musso registered seven points, three assists, two rebounds and one steal, Oakley-Stilson finished with four points, 10 boards, two steals, one block and one assist, and Chividjian scored five points with two rebounds. Freshman Emma Sengul produced three points, one board and one assist, Miyamoto recorded two points, seven rebounds, one block and one steal, and Hunt tallied two points and two boards. Junior Annabel Le had one point and one assist while Magtoto posted one rebound.
LCHS visited Temple City for a league matchup last night; the game ended after the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline and will be included in next week’s issue. La Cañada (11-9 overall, 2-1 in league) will host Blair High of Pasadena in a league rematch on Friday, Jan. 20, at 5:30 p.m. The Spartans previously defeated Blair, 68-24, in their league opener on Jan. 6.

FLINTRIDGE PREP

The Wolves continued their Prep League dominance by routing visiting Providence High of Burbank, 66-27, last Friday.
Senior captain Ashley Chea racked up a triple-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and three steals while freshman Maddie Smith amassed 32 points, eight boards, four steals and three blocks. Freshman Pressley Huie registered six points, four steals, one block and one assist, freshman Akemi Fu finished with five points, 12 rebounds, two steals and one block, and junior Catherine Baldocchi tallied four points and one board. Junior Kassidy Huie scored two points with three steals and one assist while junior captain Izzie Chan posted two rebounds and one assist.
Flintridge Prep previously returned to action after a nearly two-week break and lost a nonleague game at Village Christian in Sun Valley, 73-55. Chea registered 23 points, nine boards, two steals and one assist while Smith poured in 16 points with six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Fu recorded nine points, three boards, three assists, one block and one steal, Pressley Huie scored seven points with four rebounds and one steal, and Kassidy Huie had six points, two boards and two assists. Meanwhile, Chan collected one steal and one rebound.
The Wolves (17-2 overall, 4-0 in league) will visit Mayfield Senior in Pasadena for a league rematch today at 5 p.m. before visiting rival Pasadena Poly for a league game on Friday, Jan. 20, at 5 p.m.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART

The Tologs defeated visiting Immaculate Heart High of Los Angeles, 43-34, in an Angelus League game last Thursday.
Senior captain Sophia Heredia registered 11 points, five steals, five rebounds, one block and one assist, sophomore Ava Nawrocki poured in 10 points, six assists, four boards and one steal, and junior Isabelle Risha finished with nine points, 11 rebounds, three steals, two blocks and one assist. Senior Meghan Garrity recorded seven points, five boards and four steals while sophomore Sophia Astacaan tallied six points, seven rebounds and three steals. Senior Ella Rogers collected four boards, freshman Bella Hagobian posted two rebounds and freshman Lori Yacoubian had one assist.
FSHA previously beat visiting Blair High of Pasadena in a league game, 68-41, as Garrity racked up 17 points, six boards, four steals and four assists.
Heredia poured in 11 points with six rebounds, five steals and four assists, Nawrocki registered 10 points, seven boards, seven assists and three steals, and Astacaan produced eight points, 14 rebounds and two steals. Risha tallied six points, 10 boards and one assist, Yacoubian finished with six points, two rebounds and one steal, and Hagobian scored six points with one steal. Senior Cassie Huston posted three points and four boards while senior Siena Urquiza had one point.
The Tologs (10-10 overall, 1-1 in league) will visit Marymount High in Los Angeles for a league matchup today at 5:30 p.m. before hosting Los Angeles Sacred Heart of Jesus in a nonleague game on Saturday, Jan. 21, at 6 p.m.
