The Rio Hondo League recently released its all-league awards for boys’ and girls’ basketball, boys’ and girls’ soccer, and girls’ water polo following the completion of the 2022-23 winter season.
La Cañada High School athletes were recognized for their season-long accomplishments, hard work and outstanding contributions to their teams.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
La Cañada secured its 10th consecutive Rio Hondo League title with a 9-1 record under legendary head coach Tom Hofman, who notched his 800th career win against Temple City in the last game of the regular season.
The Spartans were led to a 21-8 overall record by the league’s MVP, junior Jack Reynolds. Senior Sam Guerrero received a first-team selection while junior Anders Petersen and sophomore Josh Proctor each earned second-team honors. Meanwhile, senior Evan Mulcahey was an honorable mention.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
LCHS finished the campaign as Rio Hondo League’s runner-up with a respectable 7-2 league record (18-11 overall). Senior Mia Oakley-Stilson earned first-team honors while sophomore teammate Jennifer Musso received a second-team selection. Meanwhile, junior Andrianna Pitsos was an honorable mention.

GIRLS’ SOCCER
The Spartans finished the season fourth in the Rio Hondo League standings with a 3-5-2 record (7-8-3 overall) as senior Grace Paton was named the league’s defensive MVP.
Sophomore Charlotte Krinsky and senior Chia Matuska received first- and second-team defenders honors, respectively. Sophomore Samantha Neumeier and senior Natalia Fusco earned first- and second-team midfielders, respectively. Senior Kyra Davis and sophomore Hailee Takao each earned honorable mention.

BOYS’ SOCCER
The Rio Hondo League runner-up Spartans finished the campaign with a 6-0-4 record (9-11-5 overall).
Seniors Isaac Reiter and Liam Rea each earned first-team defender selections while senior Enzo Lee earned second-team defender honors. Senior Royce Xiao and junior Eliot Rae were named first-team midfielders while sophomore Brandon Kuo earned a second-team midfielder selection. Sophomore Harrison Chant earned first-team forward honors, junior Zacary Edwards was named a second-team goalie, and junior Jaime Saunders and freshman Rafayel Sahakyan each earned honorable mention.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO
The Spartans concluded a terrific season as undefeated Rio Hondo League champions with a 10-0 record (19-7 overall) led by senior captain and league MVP, Shereen Emadi.
Junior captain Kadyn Day and sophomores Alexis Calix and Didi Reifsnyder-Smith each earned first-team honors. Freshman Lilli Perner earned a second-team selection
while freshman Sofia Korshakovsky was an honorable mention.
