Spartans Receive All-League Honors

The Rio Hondo League recently released its all-league teams for softball, baseball and boys’ volleyball following the completion of the 2023 spring season.
La Cañada High School athletes were recognized for their season-long accomplishments, hard work and outstanding contributions to their teams.

SOFTBALL

The LCHS varsity softball team finished second in league with a 9-3 record (16-10 overall) and had six individuals receive honors, led by MVP recipient junior Elle Leckrone.
Senior Kyra Davis, sophomore Grace Rocco and sophomore Bentley Labrecque each earned first-team honors, junior Ashley Lovejoy was a second-team selection and junior Mia Salardino earned an honorable mention.
Leckrone had a spectacular year at the plate and in the pitcher’s circle. At the dish, she led the team in batting average (.612), on-base percentage (.641), slugging percentage (1.212), OPS (1.854), hits (49), RBIs (51), home runs (13), doubles (nine) while adding 31 runs and eight stolen bases. In the circle, she collected four wins and a 3.14 ERA over 80.1 innings with 86 strikeouts while limiting opposing hitters to a .198 batting average.
Rocco batted .449 with eight home runs, 29 RBIs, 24 runs, seven doubles and a 1.383 OPS. Labrecque posted a 10-1 record in the circle with a 2.77 ERA across 60.2 innings with 57 strikeouts. She also batted .342 with 11 RBIs and eight runs. Davis finished with a .500 batting average, 31 runs, 14 RBIs and 44 hits including two triples, six doubles and one home run culminating in a 1.174 OPS. Lovejoy produced a .329 batting average and .865 OPS with six doubles, two home runs, 17 runs and 10 RBIs while Salardino finished with a .292 batting average, 10 runs and eight RBIs.

BASEBALL

La Cañada High School sophomore Carson Kelly earned second team honors

The LCHS varsity baseball team finished the season fourth in league with a 5-7 record (9-14 overall) and had three individuals receive all-league honors.
Senior captain Alex Higa and sophomore Josh Proctor were each first-team selections while sophomore Carson Kelly earned second-team honors.
Higa posted team-best marks in hits (20) and runs (12) while producing a .303 batting average and a .410 on-base percentage. Proctor finished with team-high marks in batting average (.333), on-base percentage (.433), slugging percentage (.450), OPS (.884) and doubles (six) while adding 10 runs and eight RBIs. Kelly was the clear ace of the Spartans’ pitching staff, recording team-best marks in innings pitched (56.2) and strikeouts (68) with a 2.22 ERA. In 11 appearances (seven starts), Kelly had a 5-4 record while limiting the opposition to a .189 batting average.

La Cañada High School sophomore Quest Swan earned first team volleyball honors

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

The LCHS varsity boys’ volleyball team finished the campaign third in league with a 4-4 record (13-20 overall) and had three individuals receive all-league recognition.
Sophomore Quest Swan earned first-team honors, junior Zach Evans was a second-team selection and junior Parker Petroc earned an honorable mention. Individual season statistics were not reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
