14U Softball Team Boasts 22-3 Record

The La Cañada Baseball Softball Association’s 14-and-under all-star softball team continued its hot streak in summer tournaments by finishing second at the Western District Tournament recently. With the runner-up finish, La Cañada qualified for the Western B States Championship, the highest level recreational division championship.
LC 14U has been dominant this summer, winning its first four tournaments prior to the District Tournament while compiling a 22-3 record. The team began its summer run by winning the Encino-Sherman Oaks Tournament with a 10-0 victory over Crescenta Valley.
The next weekend, they won the San Clemente Tournament, with a narrow 6-5 victory over the North Shore All-Stars.
In June, 14U headed to the French Valley Wine Country Classic in Murrieta, defeating tournament host French Valley, 13-2, in the championship game.
La Cañada’s fourth title came at the Ventura Breeze Tournament with a 16-1 win over Seaside.
At the District Tournament, 14U began its quest on Saturday with three solid wins: 13-0 over Hart, 7-2 over El Rio and 8-5 over Thousand Oaks. Although La Cañada came up short in the championship game, those three wins placed 14U LC in the top three teams in the Western District and earned the girls a trip to the B State Tournament, which will take place over the July 7-9 weekend in Lancaster.
