Flintridge Prep Off to Winning Start

The Flintridge Prep varsity 8-man football team opened the regular season with a bang after routing visiting Victory Christian Academy of Chula Vista 56-14 in a nonleague game last Saturday as senior Noah Willingham rushed for 125 yards and four touchdowns on eight carries.
Senior Alex Chorba completed just a single pass inside the pocket that resulted in a 37-yard touchdown while also rushing for a 33-yard touchdown and a two-point conversion. Junior Ray Cabrera had three carries for 25 yards and a touchdown, while junior Miles Yum scored a 5-yard rushing touchdown on one carry with a pair of tackles on defense. Sophomore Will Grable racked up a team-high 10 tackles on defense and made a 37-yard catch for a touchdown, junior John Battaglia had one carry for 9 yards and recorded four tackles on defense and sophomore Nico Chapman converted a two-point attempt and tallied six tackles on defense.
Freshman Zach Sheldal went 4-for-4 in PAT attempts while senior Kevin Zhang finished with four tackles. Junior Matthew Chen, junior Josh Roberts, junior Calvin Chen, sophomore Ben Baker and sophomore Chris Bae each had two tackles while junior Peter Jordan, junior Will Jamison, freshman Nick Smith and freshman Landen Beattie each had one tackle.
The Wolves (1-0 overall) will visit Cate High in Carpinteria for a nonleague game this Saturday at 2 p.m. before hosting Mammoth High of Mammoth Lakes on Sept. 8.
