Presbyterian Church Launches Fall Season

La Cañada Presbyterian Church launches its fall season of events and ministry this Sunday, Sept. 10, by welcoming all to worship at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
The 9 a.m. traditional service will be led by the choir while the 10:30 a.m. contemporary worship service will be led by the Praise Band and includes Communion. Refreshments and information about upcoming events and ministries will be available.
LCPC’s Family Ministry provides children’s programs and activities at both services, and Youth (grades 7-12) at 10:30 a.m. will have their Bible study after joining in the beginning of the contemporary worship service.
Senior Pastor Ross Purdy will begin a new sermon series entitled, “The Abundant Life: Living Faithfully & Fruitfully.”
“Jesus promised us that if we believe in Him, we would experience an abundant life, but what does that mean? This series will examine what it means for us to grasp hold of this promise and to live fruitfully before God and others,” Purdy said.
“The Life Abundant” will also be the theme and study for both the Pastor’s Bible Study (Wednesdays at 8 a.m. on Zoom) and the Wednesday evening program, Merge. Merge begins with dinner at 5:45 p.m. before a brief presentation by Purdy and a time for discussion and small group reflection. Wednesdays are also when Family Ministries hosts Merge for students (grades 4-12) who are welcome on campus from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Fall programs are also launching in September. Care & Counseling ministry is offering a DivorceCare class on Tuesday nights starting Sept. 12, and a 13-week GriefShare class for those who are experiencing grief after the death of a loved one, on Sunday afternoons, starting Sept. 17. Both classes are open to community members. Parent Education classes start the week of Sept. 10. Contemplative Ministries returns to hosting an evening time for contemplative practices on the second Tuesday evening of the month, beginning Sept. 12. They are also offering an Autumn Day Apart, a half-day retreat on LCPC campus, on Saturday morning, Sept. 23. Also that morning, Men’s Ministry will host its Men’s Breakfast.
Launch Sunday concludes LCPC’s 75th anniversary celebrations. The time capsule that was opened at the beginning of the year will be updated and dedicated.
Launch Sunday worship and events are held at 626 Foothill Blvd. and livestreamed at live.lacanadapc.org. Learn more about LCPC by visiting lacanadapc.org.
