Spartans Rebound Against South Pasadena

The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ tennis team lost at rival San Marino 14-4 in a Rio Hondo League showdown on Oct. 12.
The No. 1 doubles team of Kaylee Thornburgh and Jessica Simonian won a pair of sets with identical 6-2 scores. The No. 2 tandem of Christina Seibert and Pauline Hess won a set with a 7-5 score, while the No. 3 duo of Maddison Hunt and Kate Austin contributed a 6-4 victory.
The Spartans edged host South Pasadena 10-8 in a league match on Oct. 10.
The No. 3 doubles team of Austin and Hunt swept with scores of 6-3, 6-3 and 7-6 (7-4). The No. 1 duo of Seibert and Hess won two sets with identical 6-3 scores, while the No. 2 tandem of Lauren Kim and Thornburgh also won with identical 6-3 scores. Additionally, No. 2 Simonian won two sets with scores of 6-1 and 7-5, while No. 3 Maya Lindenfeld contributed a 6-3 win.
The Spartans (9-2 overall, 5-2 in league) will visit Blair High in Pasadena for a league match on Oct. 19 at 4 p.m. before visiting Temple City on Oct. 23. The Spartans will send individuals to compete in the Rio Hondo League Tournament on Oct. 25 and 26.

The Wolves secured a 13-5 Prep League victory over visiting Westridge School of Pasadena on Oct. 12.
The No. 1 doubles team of Kaitlyn Lavichant and Sienna Beltz swept with scores of 6-1, 6-0 and 6-2. The No. 2 duo of Kayla Lee and Kara Choy swept with scores of 6-3, 6-2 and 6-1. The No. 3 pairing of Vanessa Hsu and Nicole Lee also swept with scores of 6-1, 6-2, and 6-0.
No. 3 Kat Zirn won a pair of sets with scores of 6-1 and 6-2. No. 1 Anika Anant won a set with a score of 6-1, while No. 2 Francesca Cecil added a 6-2 victory.
Flintridge Prep suffered an 11-7 defeat at Mayfield Senior in a crucial league match on Oct. 10.
No. 1 Zirn swept with scores of 6-3, 6-0 and 6-1. No. 2 Emily Hsiao won a pair of sets with scores of 6-0 and 6-4. No. 3 Cecil won a set with a score of 6-3. The No. 2 doubles team of Kayla Lee and Nicole Lee won a set with a score of 6-3.
The Wolves (10-2, 6-1) will visit Palos Verdes Chadwick for a league match on Oct. 19 at 3:30 p.m. before hosting Providence High on Oct. 23. The Wolves will then send individuals to compete in the Prep League Tournament at Scholl Canyon Tennis & Golf Club on Oct. 25 at 2 p.m.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART
The Tologs suffered a pair of Mission League losses against Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 16-2 and Marlborough High of Los Angeles, 16-2. Individual statistics were not reported to the Pasadena Outlook.
Flintridge Sacred Heart (0-12, 0-7) is expected to send individuals to compete in the Mission League Tournament on Oct. 24 and 26.
