Flintridge Prep Ousted in CIF Opener

The Flintridge Prep varsity 8-man football team lost to visiting Cate High of Carpinteria 33-25 in its CIF Southern Section Division I quarterfinal game on Nov. 3.
Senior quarterback Alex Chorba completed 22 passes for 324 yards with three touchdowns. Sophomore Owen Willingham had 10 receptions for a team-best 119 yards with a pair of touchdowns. Sophomore Will Grable had four receptions for 78 yards with a touchdown while adding seven tackles and three sacks on defense.
Senior Noah Willingham made seven catches for 118 yards and recorded 14 carries for 48 yards. Junior John Battaglia had a 15-yard carry, a 9-yard catch, and led the team with nine tackles and a sack on defense. Sophomore Juliet Oberley scored an extra point attempt and a field goal.
Senior Kevin Zhang and sophomore Mac Peutet each tallied seven tackles and a sack, senior Matt Chen registered five tackles, and junior Ray Cabrera and sophomore Nico Chapman each finished with four tackles.
The Wolves concluded the season as the Prep League runner-up with a 2-1 record (7-2 overall).
