Hobson Announces Candidacy for City Council Seat

Jeanne Hobson has formally announced her candidacy for election to the La Cañada Flintridge City Council. The election is to take place on March 5, 2024.
Hobson, who has resided in La Cañada Flintridge for the past 27 years, has an impressive history as a successful businessperson, as well as an extensive and varied background in community service.
With her husband, Mark, she raised four children, two of which attended La Cañada schools, making Hobson a candidate who understands the key role of schools within the community.
She has a graduate degree in economics from UCLA and worked for 18 years at The Walt Disney Company advancing to the position of senior vice president. In this capacity, she supervised an organization of more than 200 professionals and was personally responsible for delivering $2 billion in annual gross revenue and managing $250 million in marketing funds while building a culture of collaboration and innovation.
Currently, Hobson serves as a commissioner on the La Cañada Flintridge Parks and Recreation Commission, focused on providing sports and wellness programs for the community in collaboration with various organizations such as the La Cañada Unified School District, the LCF Community Center, YMCA of the Foothills, and other sports and community coalitions.
Among other community volunteer positions, Hobson has served on the board of directors of the YMCA of the Foothills for the past 10 years in many capacities including board chair, treasurer, and interim CEO, where she led the search to fill that position permanently. Under her leadership, the YMCA launched both capital and mission advancement campaigns, worked through the ever-changing challenges that COVID presented, including the safe reopening of their facilities and programs while implementing many facility and service upgrades for the community to enjoy. Among them, working in conjunction with the city, the YMCA established pickleball courts to help our community meet the growing need for recreational facilities and senior services.
“I am very excited to announce that my honorary campaign co-chairs are City Councilmember and former Mayor Terry Walker and her husband, local veterinarian Dr. Woody Walker, former Mayor Laura Olhasso and her husband Bill, and community advocates Frank and Rita Gooch. I am also thrilled that former Mayor Donald Voss has agreed to be my campaign manager. I am honored to have the endorsement and support of these outstanding community leaders.
“As our city evolves it is important to have a leader with a strategic vision and plan that supports education, protects our public safety, is fiscally responsible and enhances our quality of life,” Hobson added. “All must take place with transparency and collaboration. I have demonstrated the proven leadership, results, and civic service needed to ensure a positive future for the city we all love.”
